Emrys get inspiration among the spires

12.06.2017

Our summer trip this year was to Oxford where some inspiring new buildings sit alongside the old spires. We did  tours of Herzog and de Meuron’s Blavatnik School of Government; Wilkinson Eyre’s Weston Library; Zaha Hadid’s Middle East Centre at St Antony’s College and rested at the roof café at the Ashmolean refurbished by Rick Mather.  The beautiful sunny day showed the traditional honey-coloured Cotswold stone in its best light and the heat provoked welcome visits to some of Oxford’s finest historic pub gardens. Other highlights of the day included visiting the Brutalist dining hall at St Antony’s; and discovering that one of the Emrys team had left home in such a hurry that they wore odd shoes all day.
