BCO Charity Bike Ride
Bike riding is clearly more of a boy thing than a girl thing. Of the 42 charity bike riders that rode from London to Manchester, there was only one woman. All the rest of us were MAMILs (middle aged men in Lycra). Although there was a sub group of Rapha chic shirts to counter the team strips.
240 miles later we arrived in Manchester, having stopped off at the very deserving Francis House Children’s Hospice for the terminally ill. The cycle ride raised £27,000 for the home. http://www.francishouse.org.uk/
Fortunately I did the trip on my Condor Baracchi bike and not my commuting Brompton! The climb to the top of the Cat and Fiddle from Buxton in the Peak District is a tad different to poodling through Bloomsbury every day. That was only one of several, shall we call them, challenging hills!
It was a great few days, good company, beautiful landscapes, all made even better by the amazing weather.
